Got back out in the duck boat yesterday for a ride with the family and to let Harry get in a little workout. Wife and little one did some beach combing for treasures (read: trash, mostly) along the sandy beaches of Lake Pontchartrain while Harry got some retrieves in when not distracted by various fish and crab activity in the shallows.
hind end headed out; some fella's big water blind in the back ground, likely did a fair bit of dosgris shooting here, with a few buffleheads and redheads mixed in. Didn't hunt this area at all after teal season last year so surprised to see so many blind structures in the area lately, more than previous seasons for sure.
and back
Did allow for a trial run of the new GPS on the water and it was wonderful, a true game changer for our dark and early trips. Made one quick pass through a section of marsh in the area with the water not too terribly low and it's in great shape. No local mottleds seen, just local swamp lizards.
For the record, got third hand report of Buras area guide seeing teal down that way.....seems strangely early for migrants, maybe a wad of local holdovers, though there were north winds last week with a brief sting of lower humidity. Hmmmmmm
