Did the bow and the joint gluing. tonight. I had my heart set on a flat bow but In retrospect the pointy would have been much easier. I only used 1and 1/4 of the tubes of PL. And I got some sweet garage sale power tools so no more batteries. It's starting to look like something.

They give them away free, but the final bill is generally somewhere north of $9.2 million.

Ya but there will come a time, when the older brothers have moved out, that he will cash in as the youngest.

Filled the edges last night and sanded tonight. In retrospect I don't know if I would do this again. I may just round off the PL beads with the FG resin. I did a rough job of applying it and took a lot of sanding to make decent. Some spots came out good:

Some, not so good:
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1395802250.283227.jpg

But overall I like the transition it made in the corners. It should be fairly easy to lay the glass over:

And meant to add I used Dry-Dex spackle. It was pretty easy to work but didn't want to stick to the wood too well without a good amount of pressure applied

Finally got back to it tonight after a long hiatus. Did fiberglassing tonight. I am pleased to say that it is pretty damn easy:

It is just shy of 100 degrees in my garage so I went light on the catalyst and it was still getting tacky quickly.

Looking sharp. Lot of fear about fiberglass that turns out to be unnecessary, I found.

I would also add that all the trimmed off cloth from the bow I used to re-enforce it. I have 4 layers on the inside and will do 4 on the outside as I figure it will the most abuse.

I would have thought the seams got taped first but in the plans I got he said it's better to do it the other way around so that's what I did.

Didn't have the garage space or weather to finish mine last year. I hope it's held up under the tarp out back!

Yours is looking great, Gila!

Thanks fellas. I will also add that the resin and glass took to the spackle I used in the joints great.

If you have any air bubbles, go to tractor supply and get a syringe and a pack of the biggest needles they have. Should run you about $11 for everything. Then mix a weaker batch of resin, and inject it in the voids. Worked like a charm, and really simple.

I have got a couple up in the corners. I will do that. Another tidbit for anyone doing the build don't leave cups/rollers/brushes on a portion you have already glassed. I did so and when I went to lift it up I pulled the cloth up and had a nice fat air bubble to work out

I'll have to find my set of plans but I think originally the seams were double taped before laying the fiberglass but he changed it to glassing then taping later. Laying glass on top if the tape was a pain, lots of bubbles to deal with.
