I used 4 oz cloth, but will use 6 next time. Not for strength, but just because it's supposedly easier to work with. And the 435 polyester resin. I don't care what anybody says, I'm not buying epoxy, and the poly has held up great for 3 1/2 years.

I have done a little fiberglass repair on an old bass boat I used to have. It's the wood bending and this whole stitch/glue thing I hope I get right.

Post some pictures as you go through the process and for heavens sake, don't fuck it up.

Granted I never built a hybrid? And you may have done a better job then I did making sure water can't get in then I did on my wood/resin projects, but about 3-4 years was all I ever got.

$125 for 5 gal for polyester and $290 for 5 gal for epoxy.
Could build 2 for the same price.

Yep. It was well over double, may have been even more. I don't remember too well, because I pretty much blocked it from my brain after I saw the price.

If I get 4 years, I'll be happy.Between hunting, clamming, and fishing, it gets dragged through the marsh about 40 times a year. So for 4 years, that's 160 trips, and it cost me $280 to build, so that's only $1.75 per trip. I'm good with that. And since it was the first one I ever built, or the first thing I ever put fiberglass on, there was a 50/50 chance that fucker was going to the bottom on the first trip.

I listened to Jim. And the instructions. I just got back from camping tonight with the whole fam and made my rough scale model. With heavy emphasis on the rough. File folder paper is not my medium of choice but here it is. I may do another tommorow with cardboard before I start making cuts in this expensive ass plywood.

Marine plywood isn't necessary. It all gets covered in glass and/or resin...

It was on both sides. The water got in where the seats were screwed in. He had just replaced the floor a few years back.

Well after some material issues I finally got to building tonight.
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1395199507.957606.jpg
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1395199522.174643.jpg

Layout and measuring.

Shape of bottom hull. With old hooch helping me out and using his ample weight to make sure it doesn't blow out of the garage.
