I'll have to find my set of plans but I think originally the seams were double taped before laying the fiberglass but he changed it to glassing then taping later. Laying glass on top if the tape was a pain, lots of bubbles to deal with.

This is correct Rick, and is the way I decided to do it. I am glad I did it definitely seems to have been easier. The wording in the plans was just a little ambiguous.

I did mine tape first, and it wasn't tremendously difficult, but the sewn edge of the tape was a bit of a pain. My next one, I'm going to do it like you guys did, tape last.

Back to it tonight, ran short on supplies. Need to go get some more adhesive tomorrow. I used a bunch on one of the boys birthday presents for mamma, a birdhouse. Anyhow I got the bow and stern decks installed along with the cockpit sides. As far as tips go, use a lot of zip ties on the bow deck it's a hard bend. Start from the middle and work your way out when putting in the drywall screws to hold it down. It won't line up if you go side to side.

It has really been a blast so far. Addicting almost. I am already thinking about modifications to my next one and I haven't even floated this one yet!

After the Easter festivities ended I snuck in another hour of work on her tonight. I got the bow decking glued, side decks installed and front and rear cockpit boards in.

I am on my third tube of construction adhesive. With all the trips down to lowes or Wally World I think I have a name for her."nickels and dimes" I'm gettin over budget but can see the finish line.

Now it's just a matter letting the glue dry, trimming the excess and laminating the top. Then we float test.

Only put about an hour toward her tonight but it was an important one. I trimmed the excess wood and finally get to see the shape And lines she will have. I am very pleased with the outcome!

Doing some detail stuff tonight. All credit for this trick goes to Assa. I got some pics of it though.
This is a fucking bubble that appeared in my fiberglass out of fucking nowhere:
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1398825420.992189.jpg

This is a 16 gauge needle and syringe from tractor supply. I think it is perfect size- for the job, much bigger and it wouldn't fit in the bubble.:

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1398825551.109512.jpg

Fill the syringe and then put the needle on. If you try and suck the FG resin through the needle itself you get a lot of bubbles.

This is after injecting the bubble with resin via the syringe:

It really works like a charm to fill it up.

I also used the last of my first gallon of resin tonight. I made a really hot batch and put another coat on the bottom of the whole boat:

Pretty sure I am stoned as hell right now. Couple other pointers, keep a fan running in the garage for some circulation. Also wear as many pairs of gloves as you can. They get sticky and it's easy to peel em off and have a fresh pair:

Also, the resin is very strong smelling. My garage leads directly into my kitchen. It is seeping into the house and my wife is throwing a fit for the ages. So, if you have the weather and the space, complete this project outside or away from the house.

 the storage hatches in my boat still smell like resin.

That shit smells horrible and gets on everything. I was lucky to have a shop for my project
