Seems counterproductive but jehler knows his shit when it comes to boats so I'd so as he suggests. Must be like a '2 wrongs do make a right' sort of thing.

Fiberglass. It's all fiberglass. Except for the layer of Kevlar in the outside hull and the wood in the floor.

I pictured it being like an overgrown Coleman canoe type thing. Isn't that what the Ducklander boats are?

I pictured it being roto-molded... like a kayak.

If Yeti made canoes, they would be $18,042 for a 12 footer.

And the 12'er would have an interior space equal to a 6'er.

Trex weighs a ton. I'd go with cedar or aluminum

I don't want that shit draining through. There's no way for the water to get to the back.
I'm putting some shit on the inside layer of fiberglass right now. Called aqua defense. I had it left over from sealing the concrete board when I tiled my showers. It dries into a "flexible waterproof membrane".
Don't think it can hurt...

Why don't you get a sheet of open cell foam board and cut it to fit and then cover it with resin and glass? A little more expensive but you might also consider a sheet of honeycomb and foam board which is very strong when glassed over.

Just remember one thing, "no wood, no rot".

Will the foam board hold the weight once it's glassed? What thickness?
I was thinking about it this morning after checking the prices of honeycomb... Can't afford that route.

Yes, it will. I've seen some use it anyway, and cover it with Saran Wrap while the resin is curing, though, which seems to work.

Not if it is covered/soaked with resin and covered with glass.
