I'd look around and see what kind of reviews or history you might find on that particular models system. It might be worth keeping it or just mixing yourself if they go out a lot.

Most guys with older skis like that recommend deleting the oiling system and
mixing it yourself. I still have it on both my 96 model skis but it does worry me sometimes. Doesn't take long for it to be not working and toast the motor.
On the other hand mixing is a bitch.

Was just reading through a thread and most say the pump is very reliable and hardly ever fails. But like you said the only indicator that it isn't working is when the motor locks up. For what I'm doing and where I'm going looks like I better switch to premix, dammit.

I'm still inclined to leave it with all the fans of the pump system. Although I just realized I ran the engine for a bit without the lines that deliver the oil to the gas for a bit.... Think I'm back to premix...

One of my guys pulled a brand new backpack blower out of the box and put straight gas in it. Ran for a few hours before it melted the piston and threw the rod out of the engine and through the outer plastic casing.

When we run our bass boats on bigger water like Erie ,the Ohio we always mix gas and oil even with oil injectors .
I would just mix one less thing to go wrong .

In my jetskis I run br7es plugs instead of 8s and they still foul out after a few lake trips. We never idle except for no wake zones. I have them running a little rich just bc they are older and have high hours. Don't mind spending a few bucks on plugs every once in a while.

It doesn't have spark plugs and burns oil anyways.

Yeah but when you are running 40 miles one way to bass fish and 40 miles back . I will pull my plugs to clean them .I know I will get there and back .
with the newer motors it's not as big of deal to add oil .

Put a quart of two stroke oil in your boat motor and report back

Finished the motor mounts tonight and all I have left to do is weld in the water intake. Although I've been haiving a major issue with my welder not cutting off the gas aster welding. Company wants to replace it but will require me to be without a welder throughout the whole replacement process. I've blown through 3 40 cu ft tanks of argon and so close to finishing with no help of this setback. Will probably end up getting the tank refilled just so I can finish before sending it back...

Can't you turn it off at the tank when you are done, or is there no valve?

I have to shut down the machine between each weld if I can. But if I'm set up to go then I just have to let it go while I jump from weld to weld blowing gas the whole time. Sucks.

Gotcha. That's rough. What's one of those tanks run you?

So close to finishing but have to ship the welder back fit a replacement. All that is left is the small plate behind the intake and the hole where the drive shaft comes through.

How long is that gonna take? Hope it doesn't cut into your duck season. You may want to consider just paying someone to finish the few welds you have to keep the project on track.
