What'd you do?
Focused in on a deer I saw coming in from my 2 o'clock, about 60 yards through the woods. I picked up my bow and started to stand without looking around. Got halfway up, and saw movement from the corner of my left eye. Froze, and looked, and there's mama doe, perfectly broadside, about ten yards from my tree. Looking right at me. She took off but didn't blow, and when she ran, the other for did too.
Then I heard what I swore was a squirrel coming behind me, and didn't bother looking (squirrels had been fucking with me all night). That was actually doe #3, who I didn't know was a doe because I didn't turn my dumb ass around and look, too worried about seeing if doe #1 was going to come back. But I knew it was a doe when she blew about 5 times while crashing through the woods running away because she caught wind of me from about 15 yards behind me.
Oh well. My head wasn't in the game, I guess.
