It's been a rough day and still rolling. HottA drive back to Fayetteville tomorrow and it's gonna be terrible.

Would have been nicer if I was there.

Mashed the stuffing out of my trigger finger draining water out of the layout, if that gives you any idea how "nice" it was.

Good a break from deer hunting and went for a upland hunt with the dog.
Limited on woodcock, but took a lot of shooting to get there. Pointed and flushed 7 total i believe.
Thanks to my poor shooting never got a grouse. Lucy pointed and flushed 6 grouse and 4 were shootable. 2 were cake shots that i wiffed on. Not a bad 2 hour walk.

I watched the sun come up and go down all from my truck today. 4.5 more hours.

Guess it didn't seem that long.
That's all you could get into eh. Reds all over but rafted up 2k plus strong. No one can get them to work even with a layout. My buddy's did get some bills over the weekend though.
Cold front and N wind by the end of the week, so hopefully we will get some new birds.

I once ordered an eight year stretch of my life around getting into the grouse woods part of most every open season (Oct-Feb) day that I wasn't on the road hunting something else. Absolutely ate up with grouse and dogs that pointed them.

Woodcock! I love that as much as I love duck hunting, It's just been a long time since I've made an outing for them though. They don't seem to be as abundant down here as they once were.

We get pretty good flights come through our cabin in the fall. I love watching my dog lock onto them. Great birds to hunt with a pointer because they hold so well.

We had a good time switching to grouse.
