$320 and a 80 mile ride had 2 20' toons in good condition. Should work perfect. So far $820 into it. Still less than I paid for the 16' flat bottom I have.

If my math is right should float 5,000lbs including weight of boat and draft 10"

Thsts the plan. I figure boat and gear will weigh around 2500lbs. So depending on how many people are on the boat that is an assload of fish we can float. Haha

Looks like you got enough room for another pontoon if that don't do it.

id be about 3" short. They are 20" toons and I had 58" between the 2 original toons. Already thought about it

Yep, getting a big boat in very shallow is generally key for bowfishing. Hard to put a 6.5' deck on a kayak.

Yup. With no fish should draft 6". Should be able to push through 4" with my fan when I get it hooked up. Fish don't get much shallower than that unless they are spawning. Then I usually walk.

Haha. If you can run it like this place. Take the competitiveness and attitude of the worst duck hunters you know and multiply it by about 10. That's the bowfishing world. Makes it hard to keep a decent forum going. There are a few out there and non of them are very productive.

Basically a horizontal shaft engine hooked to a small prop on a rotating platform that turns 360 by cable steering from the front of the boat

Oh so like literally a fan. That's enough to push the boat around? Pretty slick.

What's a setup like that cost? How quick will it push you?

My priming tool came in from 21st Century Shooting. A hell of a lot better than the Sinclair one I have.

They push real good. I've never been on a boat with one but fished around a few. It all depends on how good of stuff you get. I'm planning on around 3k for the Sparta I want to get. Flat bottom boats with a good fan will go 10-15mph depending on size and everything. I've seen some smaller boats that build them up and use as primary motor. They claim up to 25mph unloaded.

How is that better than a trolling motor? I'm probably wrong but I could see a big fan like that transferring as much vibration into the water an electric trolling motor.

I thought Sinclair was supposed to be the cream of the crop.

Would think the keel effect of the pontoons will make turning with such a fan interesting...

It's not about noise and vibration. It's about getting shallow and through weed beds. My Troller now needs a good foot of water to operate. A fan can push through shallower than the boat will draft. Carp hang really shallow a lot of times and in really weedy areas that aren't easily accessible by trolling motor
