Another possible candidate to fill the quiet call spot on the lanyard.

Yeah. Missed the boat on these back when they were originally offered. Now they have wood barrels. I'm putting together a lanyard of all black calls so I got ahold of Rick to see if he could use a black barrel from a different model call and he happened to have one of these still laying around so he sold it to me.

All the same to me in the end. All of their similar models seem to be the same price.

Love my little $100 Poulan. Has been a blessing time and time again after storms, survived umpteen trips to work in the marsh, and I don't mind lending it to folks who do gosh knows what with it. Bought it as a throw-away for a marsh job, but when it gives up, I may just look for another like it.

That's exactly what Poulans are good for. No fun to buck up 20 cord of wood with one though

And that's all that really matters, Rick. I may still pick up a $100 Poulan for dirty work, stump cutting, etc.

I have very little personal experience with Poulan, but it hasn't been very good.

I had a sticker made to put in my boat that reads - "This boat runs on gas, not thanks". I put it on the underside of the gun box lid next to where the passenger sits.

Why?

1) look at the specs for comparable saws. It generates more HP, more RPM's, and weighs a 1-2 lbs less than the comparable saws (magnesium crankcase VS aluminum)

2) to get similar hp/weight/rpm out of a Stihl/Husqvarna you're spending another $175-250.

3) Because it gets fantastic reviews from guys on Arboristsite.com and Forestryfroum.com that are using saws 5-6 days a week. Most of their reviews compared it favorably to the $6-800 Stihl/Husqvarna's and that the $350-500 saws from Stihl/Husqvarna/Jonsered really aren't even in the same class as the Dolmar.

4) and least meaningful - I ran my buddy's PS5100 (predecessor to the 5105 I bought) and it was really smooth and very fast. The anti-vibration system was so good, that if the saw hadn't been making noise, I wouldn't have known it was running by holding it. I was so used to running old saws, I just assumed all the new ones were that smooth - not so according to reviews.

No. Got the cheap one. Just hard shelling out $145 when the pulan right next to it was $60

i told the little pecker head i stopped going to the rally in the black hills because of the heat. this hunt is(i think) one week after the sturgis rally  i think he only asked me to go so i would bring our folks RV

How tough is it to draw those tags there? I would think with you being in Colorado that Wyoming would be a better choice. You can still buy some of the tags over the counter there. Toughest thing is finding public or a ranch that will let you hunt their place.

sorry i couldnt answer this until now.
there are 8 of us going. all archery tags, first time i have bow hunted goats and first time in SoDak. from what i have been told almost all non resident bow tags are awarded. one of the guys that we are hunting with owns a sizable ranch there.
plenty of pronghorns in the area some are good sized. tonight i will be moving my yardage pins on the bow. dont know how well my eyes are going to do past 50 yards but should be a good time.

All of the rental around here suck. The equipment that they do have like this is worn out. Most of them don't even carry lawn equipment.
