TomKat's Haiku for duck hunters

Postby Tomkat » Wed Apr 24, 2013 4:56 pm

Jehler sits in his boat,
a whiskey in one hand, all alone
on command a midget appears

Olly is moving to bama.
no more cold, snow, ice, or wind
Only a memory, the past

Redbeard out on lonely patrol
drives his cruiser slowly thru the hood.
then Latisha climbs on board.

Dark night, all is quiet
ahead on the road, work of art
Orange mailbox is standing proud

Five syllables here
Seven syllables go here
Then five again here

If I were going to
Really do things my own way here
I wouldn't care about rules

Assateague went hunting for sprigs
in his toy boat on eastern shore
going to kansas empty handed

Libertarian haiku is liberal with the extra syllables. ;)

You stick it to da man TK! I love your poems! I hate English majors and literature people.

I took AP lit in high school. I hate poetry and abstract thinking.

Still remember I took the AP exam under protest and when it asked you to analyze poems and short stories I gave a literal interpretation of every one. They failed me with a 2. One of my proudest grades.

Damn it, if you write a poem about chimney sweeping. Then the damn poem is about chimney sweeping. There ain't no hidden meaning.

Fuck 'em TK!

Doc I had a lot of English in college and it drove me freaking crazy as well. Like a dummy I studied American literature which means two months of reading Puritan poetry. I am not making that up. I wanted to strangle the crazy old lesbian that taught that class. This thread is for you Ms. Jackson.

You may notice a certain independence streak that runs deep in me.

I have a bad tendency to want to do things my own way.

I am hoping that some of my waterfowl brothers will chime in with a few verses of their own here

A midget man stands
The monkey brothers lend hand
A hunt for the books
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” ― Samuel Adams

The coyote approaches the stand
He is hungry and wants to eat
A rifle shot, and sleep

Green heads glistening in the sun
five hundred wings beat and then cup
Roar of the benelli, death
