Hopefully you're going for the Gentleman Jack and not the lighter fluid!

Crockpotted some pheasants and made a little wild rice to go with...gotta say, it's damned unfortunate for the ducks that we don't have more pheasant around.

Yep.

And I haven't killed a wild pheasant in Michigan in 20 years.

Are you saying you ate a 20 year old pheasant?

What's your recipe? I'd never crockpotted pheasant before and a friend recently gave me a recipe that has just blown the doors off. Pretty simple, just bread with chicken-fry batter (spicy mix throws in a nice kick) and do a quick sear in a hot skillet. Throw in crockpot with equal parts cream of chicken and cream of mushroom. I've been serving with stuffing, but it would work with noodles or rice as well.

We've been having a helluva year on pheasants for around here, probably around 20 for the year. Hopefully gonna add to that total over the next few days.

I don't generally use recipes when I cook, but it's pretty similar.

I cubed the meat, dusted in flour/Tony's/rosemary/thyme/blk pepper and browned it in a skillet. Moved to the crockpot and covered in cream of celery soup, a bit more rosemary/thyme/pepper and let it go on low for 3-4hours. Made some rice and threw it all together at the end. Everyone from the baby to the fussy eating members of my family chowed down.

No. One of my sales guys blew his entertainment budget at an Orvis approved bird ranch - we had a stern discussion that an event of this size/cost would need management oversight - so I went along and batted clean up.

I love batting cleanup. Did it a few times this fall while buddies were training their dogs, always seems like the shooting is that much easier once everyone has missed!

Especially when you bat clean up with a 20ga and 8's behind guys shooting 2.75/3" 12's 5's and 6's and smoke birds they flat missed, another 15 yards out.

Since they were your clients, I'm sure those kills were all just delayed reactions to their shots.
