Checking out our place this weekend ,18 acres of dove weed that looks thick as carpet. Also found that due to being low the last couple years one small tank is booming with American pondweed. Might just be alright this year.

Never seen goat weed so thick, but it could just as well be called "dove weed". They're rather that than sunflowers or millet.

That field is disks up every year and planted with winter wheat/oats. From what I understand disking it really amps it up. I'm not sure it is getting planted this year so it may be the year of the dove.

@Pintail y'all holding many birds in Waco yet? Seems Pflugerville numbers are starting to pick up but Corsicana is still behind, as usual.

Yes definitely. I was just sitting on my back porch watching the doves swoop over my house. There's a little creek nearby and a cornfield too. I could totally shoot a limit if it wasn't in town.

It's looking real good for us to. Power lines are already sagging with birds around fields.

Don't know but if it were in California, I would say it was pretty healthy "turkey mullein" which doves dearly love.

That's what we call a $1,500 fine and loss of hunting privileges for a year.

Speaking of hanging dove decoys, I just ran into Ureaduck's "Happy Hooker":
