Per our hunting regs "it is not considered sporting to shoot doves from power lines" and some other stuff about you can be liable for damage to the lines

"not considered sporting" is a far, FAR cry from "illegal".

I wasn't talking about shooting them on lines.

Looks like you're scoping out a sorghum field!

Dafuq is sorghum?? I was thinking maybe they were sweet corn and someone came and picked it all, but I couldn't see whet anyone would have ripped off the cobs

Sorghum. ... milo. Same thing.

No, I'm pretty sure it's just fucked-up corn. I don't think sorghum is as thick as a cornstalk.

Yeah. It's just corn that didn't get enough of something. That's what all the corn at one if the WMAs by me looks like. Not gonna be much food for the ducks there again this year.

Fuck if I know. I never did the math. I really dont even know exactly how big my plots are acre wise. I just know how many 50 pounds bags it takes to plant and what it should look like when I broadcast. Im not a farmer. I just done this long enough to make it work and come out right.

So what you're saying is that this isn't your first rodeo?

I get more satisfaction driving out to the fields I set up and watching the birds build the week prior to the opener. Especially the morning and evening before opening day. I always laughed at my self when I say that line from that Tom Hanks movie Cast Away. When in makes fire for the first time." Look at what I have created!":lol:

God I love dove hunting. It's like the relaxed easy version of duck hunting. Pick a spot by a mesquite tree, a tank, or a sunflower field and you're in business. Take a stool, a cooler and of course plenty of shells. I like to use 7.5 shot and 2 3/4 in. shells for doves. If you're looking for a stool I found the perfect stool for doves. Its light weight but still very sturdy and folds up to carry. What I like best is how tall it is. It makes it a lot easier to stand up to shoot and makes it comfier. Plus only $12.

I like using a good quality camp style chair. That has a little fold out table thing attached to it. Hold your shells and drink. Makes it very comfortable.

I actually made something like that. Put my regular decoys on the wire and drilled holes on top of the wooden poles and put my mojos poles in it. Got the spinners about 15 feetish in the air. Worked like a charm.

Yup. Something like that. They are pricey. But ones I have are very well built and I dont think I'll be needing to buy new ones in a very long time if ever. I used to use a camo bucket but after sitting on those chairs im not goin back.

7.5s are no joke Goldie. They are to be taken very seriously. Use them at your own risk.

I shoot 8s and 71/2. In the fall I'll bump up to 6s occasional. Birds get a bit tougher with their winter feathers. I've never have a problem eating them.
