You ever cast your decoys over the real wire with a fishing pole? Lots of guys here do that, and then put a spinner or two below them in the field.

Yup same here. Our late season runs with pheasant. I heard something about a season change this year making it longer. But haven't looked into it to see if its true or not.

I find Opening day to be the easiest to get a limit. The birds are foolish, and aren't scared of hunters. Its also when a cold front comes in and makes the fat birds from Kansas move down here. They are fresh and not too gun shy. Thats when you'll get a good hunt in usually.

Yeah. Usually we do good the first 3 day then it slows down. Picks back up the last few days. Alot of guys stop hunting after day two. For some reason I've seen a trend that happens like every 3 to 4 years. When all 15days is off the hook. I thought it was gonna be last year but hunting fizzled out on day 4. If I hunt solo I can usually scratch a limit most days if I hunt morning and evening. Just depends on whats happening around me.

I believe I saw it in the other site a while back, and I think the credit is due to one of the Inda's. They said the way to go was to throw a string over a branch and attach a hanger to it and place your decoys on it. Supposed to pull it up so it is just underneath the lowest hanging branch, supposedly dove magnet. Never tried it myself, but sounds kind of similar and I'd imagine it works pretty well.

By far the best hunt I have ever been apart of happened the last day of the fall season quite a few years ago. Birds were bunch up in the hunders and literally grinding in a dry rice field next door and safflower I planted. I called a bunch of my buddy's the night before and we headed out to a stand of oaks I have at my place. Birds were coming in clouds. Wish we would of filmed it. Straight up looked like it could of been Argentina.

My dove rig used to include a Zebco reel and weight and a dozen homemade two-way silhouettes with clips. I'd punch the button and toss the weight over a branch or old pole, pull out enough line to toss over another 30 or more yards away and secure the slack under something while I did so and secured that end to an anchor of some sort. Then I'd clip the decoys to the line and hoist them aloft like a row of birds on an invisible wire. As long as there wasn't enough wind to make them too crazy, the birds homed in on them like the real deal and apparently didn't mind that there was no wire or branch there. The more open the area, the better it seemed. Hurricane Rita took my, I thought, nifty little silhouettes or I'd post a pic.

Here in mi we hunt dove with a pile of corn and an air rifle

Down here a dove shoot is a social event. Lots of beer, TVs playing college football, Brunswick stew and BBQ, all pretty common shit you see at a dove shoot. Of course all that shit will be a good ways away from the action.

Reminds me of one of my nephews.... He didn't get up and laugh. He started crying.

Our season went from Sept 1-30 and 10 birds but, this season, they added 30 days and went to 15 birds. I think the whole Pacific Flyway has the option of longer season and more birds. It is up to the states to decide if they want it. We'll probably have a chance at doves the first few weeks of duck. We usually see them by the river but, it's usually closed.

Not saying this isn't true but the lethality of a mojo depends on what doves you have. Morning doves will dive bomb the shit out of a mojo but white wings don't give a shit a lot of the time. Scouting is key, find the fields they're feeding in and bring plenty of ammo. That's all there is to it.
