Three Awesome Days

Postby SpinnerMan » Wed Nov 18, 2015 10:27 am

If only all days were like the last 3 days.

Three of us hunted Sunday, Monday (different three), and Tuesday. Season total before Sunday, 8 Canadas (5 for me) and ZERO ducks.

Sunday, 6 big Canadas and 2 pintail hens.

Monday, 9 bluebills, 8 goldeneye, 1 hooded merganser

Tuesday 9 bluebills, 2 goldeneye, 1 bufflehead, and 1 red breasted merganser

Season total after Tuesday 14 Canadas (7 - mine), 33 ducks (12 mine)

For me, first ever bluebill hen and drake, first ever goldeneye hen and drake, and first ever red breasted merganser.

Monday I was third up in the layout, both my buddies were limited out, I was done with bluebills almost immediately, and then the show began. I probably had at least 100 bluebills decoy (1 to 10 at a time, average 3 or 4), about 15 or so landed in the decoys and paddled around the decoys burring or whatever you call the sound they make. Having never seen any of these before while hunting, trying to ID ducks was fun. I think I did well. No shots fired at "extra" bluebills and I only let one goldeneye get through that I should have shot.

Tuesday, my shooting sucked, beyond the frustration of missing way too many that I should not have, it was an awesome day.

The one goose tipped the scales at 13 lbs.

Me with our ducks from Monday and a nice drake goldeneye that I got.

Me in the layout. It's hard to see, but the furthest ones at 11 o'clock are not decoys.

Tuesday's bag.

Now back to work :(

Very nice! are the bluebills of the lesser or greater varieties?

When you're done up there, come on down here and shoot bluebills on lake pontchartrain, all you want, and no pressure from others.

Glad to see you got into them. Was feeling sorry for you, but I'm over it now.

I'm pretty sure they are all Lesser Scaup.

It only takes a few good days to turn things around. I hope this is a sign of things to come.

Nice job spinner!
Have you ever wondered why your dick still looks brand new, but your face is starting to look like an aging pirate?
