Finished cork woodduck

Postby Mean Gene » Sat Nov 29, 2014 8:18 pm

Finished painting the cork body/wood head woodduck I carved last week. Not entirely satisfied with the blue on the back, so I think I'll alter it later. Wasn't looking for fancy, merely functional. My objectives in this project were as follows:

1) Carve a woodduck, and have it actually end up looking like a woodduck (that's always handy).
2) Give it a gunner type paint job that would be easy to reproduce when doing a run of multiple birds.

I'm hoping I at least met those two guidelines. Here's what I came up with as a first attempt.

The objective is to turn live ducks into dead ducks

Looks amazing to me but if it keeps you up at night I'll send you my address.

That bird will hunt Gene. I've found cork to be, for me, difficult to detail and you did great with it.
