WFF Membership Contest

Postby Olly » Thu Dec 11, 2014 4:02 pm

With the new year coming we'd like to see a lot of new faces here at WFF! Dan and I have come up with a fun idea to spread the word about our still small forum and possibly gain a few new regulars. Deadeye_Dan has very generously donated a brand new Bark River Knife - model "Bird and Trout". From what I understand this is an amazing knife and I'm already jealous of whoever wins. This contest will be setup like a raffle and every time you bring a new member to the forum you get one "raffle ticket" the more members you get to join the greater your chance of winning.

Duration of contest - 11DEC2014 - 11MAR2014

RULES/PROCEDURE:
The new member you sign up must obtain 50 legitimate post by the time of the drawing.
The new member you sign up must have been active on the forum within one week of the drawing.
This contest is open to ALL members of WFF regardless of post count who have been active within the last 6 months.
Once you have a new member onboard send their username to any moderator and you will get credit.
If the new member you sign up fails to meet the post count or active time requirements that "ticket" will be removed and will draw again until we have a winner.
Of course please follow the honor system.

THE PRIZE

I also want everyone to thank Deadeye_Dan for donating such an awesome prize. He did this out of his own pocket and a desire to see the forum continue to grow.

Hell of a generous offer and I'd suggest people scan some videos on YouTube of what these blades can do! Bark River makes some ridiculous knives!

Is there a spot that shows the new members? Some sites have a list on the forum that shows new members. Makes it easy to nudge them into posting

Good question, if you look on the portal it shows a list of the newest 5 users. Also at the bottom of every page shows the name of the single newest member.

Bottom right.

Thanks, figured there is but how hard would it be to throw that on the main forum page or on all forum pages?

Doesn't look like anyone is going to have the posts for the contest. What's plan "B"?

Are you sure he isn't someone's ringer? Who signed him up? He hasn't posted since early January. Got the required 50+ and hasn't posted much past that. The member who signed him up is who gets the knife, not the new member, if it's believable.

Why are you trolling here Mike? You abandoned this community. You don't have a say in how we do things anymore.

For the record we knew that membership drives are never really successful for most forums. The backup plan is to give the knife away in a draw of members that have posted X amount of post in X amount of time. To insure only the active members of WFF are included.

With this contest being unsuccessful I'm closing the thread. Since Dan donated the gift he will decided when and how to do the next giveaway with the knife.

I know membership drives can be hard, no one wants to invite their friends to their internet world. They are hardly successful on any forum much less a niche one like this. Thanks to all those that took part and keep an eye open for Dan's post about giving the knife away.
