This is what typical summer training should look like around here.

I like training in areas like this, really makes the dog use its nose

So do I. It also develops trust between you and your dog. I need to get my garage cleaned out and break out the dummy launcher.

I always prefer to do my training where I am hunting. During the week we go out to a little field/marsh here in town but on the weekends if I can I prefer to take the boat out and do training there.
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.” ― Samuel Adams

Had the pup out doing some handling drills this morning at the new place. Have a vacant lot with very short grass that is awesome! He tries to cheat more than in tall grass and I get to add more correction (not from collar). Big strides being made IMO. Will try and get the bride to be out later for pictures.

Then came back and did one of my favorite "games". Blackie (not enough manners for a gun dog, my fault) gets to break and go crazy while the pup is at a remote sit. All he does is watch and will get one retrieve at some point to keep it fun for him. He LOVES chasing her around so it is very tempting for him. No breaks today and creeping not tolerated.

I would like to try that dummy launcher from my layout boat...out in the big water. That would give the brown dog some swimming time.

You got a dummy launcher? If not I could bring mine over one Saturday.

Best thing in the world for a young dog is lots of field time

I did some blinds with Brandy last night to see where she is at...she was rocking and rolling :D

Come on duck season!!!

you know Jerry I really don't know. Have never checked it out. The river's low right now and the temps have been in the low 60's for awhile.

I was thinking of how much Taz would like some colder water about now. Clinton Lake which is on the west side of Lawrence had a water temp of 87* 2 weeks ago, has to be around 90* by now. Even in the water have to be very careful this time of year around here.

If you're not careful, you're going to be putting holes in your walls using Karmas dummy launcher in your living room. Boredom and heat combine to make a terrible mess. Usually.

It has been getting bad, even worse since Taz lost his play buddy. As of right now, I do have one of the best remote retrieving dogs around!

One of these years! My pitching coach in college lives north of San Fran, he comes back to KS every year, would like to go visit him also.

Rained overnight and into this morning, had to take advantage of the 72* temps. Let Taz have a little fun before work this morning. He is getting sloppy, time to get those manners sharpened up.
