Very little pressure on snipes and they are really dumb birds.
The ones I've killed were jumped in drainage ditches.
Usually the first time one jumps I am not ready...it flies about 50-100 yards and lands.

I'd spot n stalk. If I missed, no worry, the dumbass would just fly 50-100 yards and land again.
Have missed two or three times and killed on the fourth.

Snipes ain't ducks.

Hell, in most of their favorite (read "wide flippin' open") habitat here, they spot you and blow out about the time you're in range or before, often precipitating the stampede folks hunting high density pheasants loving refer to as a "cluster flush". The trick is to get close enough to get a shot off before they're out of range, and it would be exceedingly rare to see one circle back since the bulk of SWLA is prime habitat for them.

That circling the boggy spot stuff must be a Yankee thing, like big puddlers tame enough to work to men in the open at water's edge.

No we jumped from island to island walking it the same way you would for any upland type bird.

I ended the hunt with 3 birds, I had to leave right after to take care of some BS for work but it was a fun time and a good bunch of guys. Delta Dan is a stand up guy and very knowledgeable about the area.
