Watched a movie called "under the skin" tonight. Really weird flick. However, there is some full frontal Scarlett Johansen action. So, for Pete's sake go rent it immediately! 5 stars.

I'm about 1/2 way through this movie,..YES Scarlett looks great! (although she has kind of gotten a little chunky since the Avengers)

But,..."Weird" doesn't even begin to describe this movie!!

Watched Zero Dark Thirty the other night. Pretty good flick, and I'll say that the interrogation scenes were pretty close. If they were in Smell-o-vision, it'd be even more realistic, though,

I like that movie. If you do a quick google search, there's an interview out there with "the shooter" that's worth a read.
I wanna say it was in "Esquire" magazine...

When I saw that I was thinking of you, at. The scenes were a little more graphic than the book you recommended. Just a sign of the times being a little more open about it, or the action/graphic needs of a movie vs a book?

I'd say it's all about the shine of a movie. And it's hard to get across the mind aspect of it, and wouldn't be any fun to watch, even if they could

I talked my wife into letting me waterboard her. It didn't go well at all. At least from her perspective. She was convinced that she could make it for a half hour. She made it about 14 seconds.

your wife is very trusting.
seen a show where a Playboy(i think) reporter had it done to him. guy lasted like 4 seconds. it didnt look fun. drowning scares the shit out of me. im sure by now my heart would just explode in under 10 seconds. the guy that did it to the reporter said you can think to yourself its just a little water, but there is nothing you can do
ok found it.not sure if i remembered it all correctly

You're wife beat the hell out of the reporter, at! Living with you must have really toughened her up to the point she can endure about anything! I had never noticed the inclination before. That does change everything. Does enough water ever get into the lungs to cause serious damage? I have to assume not or you wouldn't have done it to your wife. Unless you have killer ins. policies, of course!

It doesn't even really go into the lungs- it just dribbles a bit into the back of your throat, and makes you think it's going into your lungs. That's what the incline is for- to let it run up your nose. There isn't actually any risk of drowning, your body just makes you think there is. You may aspirate a little water, but no more than if you swallow a gulp of water down the wrong tube, sort of. And even that is hard to do- you have to really try and gasp hard in order to pull the water uphill from top of your throat into your lungs, and the body generally won't allow that to happen.

It's the combination of the tilt, the restraints, and the situation which make it seem far worse than it is. You can get the same effect by standing in the shower and putting a soaking wet washcloth on your face and leaning your head back a bit. Let the shower run on the washcloth, and try to breath. You find that you CAN breath, but it just takes a lot of effort. The incline actually better prevents water from going into your lungs than would be the case if you were sitting up, but that bit of water collecting in the back of your throat, and the incline serve to increase the psychological factor quite a bit. Allegedly, a chair is better, with feet zip tied to the legs and arms zip tied to the sides of the back. It is allegedly easier to lean the chair down on its back, and then just lift it back up when it's time for a break. That way you're already in a questioning position, rather than having to have other people hold them/help them up. Allegedly.

waterboarding is very similar to slamming an 18 pack of coors light in a recliner.

Teague I've always wondered, why is the cloth necessary? Why can't you just dump the water straight on their face?
