I bought the head/chest/highlights mallard kit and the 50 head goose kit. Should be enough to do the heads/tails on 15 goose decoys and have plenty left over to use on the ducks.

I have seen a thread somewhere where a guy did the whole bird. Hens as well and he used a sprayer to spray the flocking. I bet he wasted a ton of the stuff.

I guess you can go crazy and buy all sorts of do-dads but I'm happy with the way I'm doing it.

I usually flock pretty hard for 30 minutes or so, then blow the white stuff around the face, belly and back. Take a break then flock a little more.

hopefully it goes as good as ABs went. I bought a little blue/purple to mix in on the top of the head. See if I like it or not. only cost me $3 for it so not much lost. Might be a little while before I get around to it. I want to get the boat ready for the spring perch run and Bowfishing first.

I used a sharpie to make the black marks on their heads. Did that last time and I think I'll skip it this time.
That Mississippi delta gumbo mud will make the colors fade a bit.
The main reason I flock my decoys is to knock down the glare because when plastic decoys get wet they get shiny .
The flocking helps prevent that imo.

After you get done you're going to want slotted decoy bags. Not sure if it matters but I know I want them after spending nearly a week messing around with them decoys. Want three bags that hold a dozen each. I put three dozen out and pick them up every day. My bags are trashed. Looking at materials to build my own. I want something like they use on them soft-side cooler/lunchboxes.

I was thinking about sewing some somehow. I do a lot of walk in hunts into a WMA if I'm not out in the big water. I was thinking about 18 slot bags so me and a buddy can pack in 3 doz decoys.

When I first started duck-hunting in 8th grade I was a paperboy as well. Had to get a sub on days I hunted and that kinda canceled much of the profits.
Anyway I used my newspaper bags for carrying decoys. There were several styles and the one I liked the best had two pouches with a hole in the center for your head. It was meant for carrying over your head or to line bicycle double-baskets so the papers didn't get wet. Kind of a duel-purpose thing.
When I quit I cashed in all my bonus money for more of them bags. They were getting harder to get. Really tough materials. I still have two of them from the mid-70's. Thinking about sewing some canvas separators into those newspaper bags. Would work great for what I want. Love to re-purpose things.

Gene those look awesome! I wish I could hunt over a small spread so I could learn to do that. I'm just not dedicated enough to do 400 or 500.
