Makes me even more bummed that I'm going to miss the entire teal season because of training.

Wish we had more to look forward to in my area. Seems they just skip us and make the coast as quick as they can. Rice 2 hours south doesnt help either.

I'd guess that's the real booger. Most September teal we kill in the marsh are packed with rice and just looking for a place to lay up.

Cold April set our rice back this year, but they're now cutting a reflooding for second crop, so the coyote and I cruised some fresh flood this morning, "just in case". No dice.

Not much ag in central Texas everybody runs cattle for the most part. Some corn and maize but ducks don't bother with it. Not much at lakes to hold birds either.

We usually have a fair number of them down by now, but I saw the first I could be absolutely certain was a teal this morning. Thinking that's a good thing meaning fewer will have passed through before we open on the 14th.

It's not uncommon. I hunted with a guy that killed GWT in mid November over here least season.

One BWT was taken in a blind down the river from ours on Saturday morning.

A fellow from MD who hunts with me every season e-mailed to say the ducks they shot in the Devil's Lake region of ND last week were mostly bluewings, most of which should have been thinking about puling out of Louisiana for Belize by then.

Pretty soon some diver diddler will be along to cite DU and tell us canvasbacks can fly faster, as if whacking cans weren't like shooting minivans.

It's like hitting a fastball. A straight 100 mph fastball is easier to hit than a 95 mph one that has some run.

When I was down in lousiana teal were the easiest bird to hit, as I remembered ricks advice he had posted in the honey hole some odd years ago "don't be the first to shoot at the teal" that was good advice
