Super spotty in our area, but I've been lucky with both morning and evening parties doing well until yesterday afternoon and this morning. Still killed a few, but they were too few and far between for comfort with paying guests. (Made the worst hunt to date this evening with a couple old friends and had a ball shooting just 6. No pressure.)

I would have been happy with one between the 4 of us that went opening day. :(

Their migration is way late. Louisiana's teal survey has a long term average of 298,000 along the transects flown, and was a record low of just 50,000 this year. Hunted some guys over the weekend who said most of the ducks they shot the week before in Saskatchewan were bluewings, which they'd never shot there on previous trips. Be interesting to see if the big ducks move late this year, too...

That's what the newspaper said about the migration here. They are expecting the end of teal season to be a hell of a shoot out though.

I've been out the last 3 mornings and saw maybe 15 all together and none within range. Wood ducks! Dear Lord I havent seen the number of wood ducks like I've seen the last couple days. I rarely see them and this morning they were all over an area I hunt pretty regular.
We are suppose to get a front in before the weekend so maybe we will get a push.

A lot of ducks had a real late hatch around here due to the spring weather. Could be the reason for late flyers, they had to grow wings and learn first.

I've noticed that too. I saw a woodie on a beaver pond a couple weeks back that couldn't fly yet.
