Home made "pulsator" decoy

I'm thinking about making one.
12-volt bilge pump
50' extension cord
Decoy
Some fuel line or hose

Buying one is $100-150
Can build one for way less.
Anybody ever tried? AT?

I hunt in tidal water, so I don't really worry about trying to make "motion". There's plenty provided by mother nature.

AB I've done this before.

Take a decoy and fill it with expanding foam. Cut a 3 sided flap in the back of the decoy big enough for the ball to fit in. Carve out the foam, you can make it as tight or loose as you want it. If the ball is able to roll around a little the duck will make more motion.

Motion decoy without any kind wires.

I made a couple of those. They work alright, but batteries die in about 2 hours.

Good idea. Would double or triple battery life.

U-Tube has video on both. The flasher gives the pulsater the movement it needs, without it the decoy would just sit there and spray water continuously. There was a discussion and some experimentation with the weasel ball shaker decoy. It was found that by attaching the ball to the top flap of the decoy they got more motion and no noise. They use a #12 wood screw and everyone eventually added a pair of small hinges to the flap because the plastic flap eventually break. They also found the best way to open the decoy was with a razor knife because it doesn't remove any material from the decoy and thus a better looking job.

I was gunna duck take a pump to a pole and you guys had to complicate it all by doing it...sigh...the right way.
