The good thing about the last few days is that we have been hunting close to home and close to the boat ramp. This morning I put 1.37 gallons of fuel in the boat after three trips, not bad. Shot a drake pintail this morning and just broke a wing, picked him up almost a half mile down the ICW at the end of the hunt. Nothing but Red Heads and Pintails. Somehow we got a couple of hen spoonies too.

This evening, second to the last day before the split. Four Red Heads and one Widgeon. Only a couple of hours from the ramp and back. We had a raft of Red Heads within shooting range of our decoys but, alas, we already had all of our Red Heads.

Today is the last day of the first part of our season, no duck hunting for the next 12 days. Still lots of Red Heads but this morning we shot only one pintail and one blue bill besides our ten drake Red Heads. To use up a little time we shot drakes only.
Looks like a pile of ducks but it was only 12
Boat is pretty dirty after 10 days of hunting, sometimes twice a day. Austin drew the short straw for the ride home.

Ummm, gas pumps have a new fangled way of measuring the fuel dispensed so they know how much money to charge?
