I know it is probably different everywhere in the whole United States. My buddy and I hunt one spot and one spot alone. Just wondering how often you guys let single spots rest. Is just sunday mornings fine? or is that too much pressure

I try to hunt a spot no more than once every couple weeks.

I would think it depends on a lot of different things. New birds, weather, how many birds in the area, ect.

I hunt the same spot pretty much every weekend. Never had a problem not seeing birds.

Where we hunt we can bounce around within about 200 yards and have good hunts multiple times a week. When birds are really thick we have hunted the same spot multiple times a week with limits. Depends on where you are

I hunt 4-5 days a week. Usually hit the spots 1x a week, sometimes more depending on bird numbers.

You can't stockpile birds, you gotta kill 'em when they are here.

If it's on public land there really isn't a lot you can do about how often it's hunted. If it's a good hole you can pretty much bet your not the only one in the area. On private land where you are the only ones on it, it would really depend on the time of year and where you are in the US. The push of new birds will definitely vary as the season progresses. In northern states the push out of Canada is just starting at the end of October / beginning of November. We can hunt a spot now once a week and see new birds each time in Western NY, especially geese and divers. Mallards seem to push through pretty quick on their way south. Come the end of November into December we will have new birds almost every day. In the deeper south like LA and MS food sources like rice play a big roll on where the birds locate and take up residence.

Doubt you'll be able to hunt ducks living in a spot more than a time or two a week without running them out for good. But if it's a spot with enough bird traffic passing and you know your business, you can hunt it daily and still expect to do well. I can count the times I've moved ducks off the pothole I hunt over the past eight seasons on one hand, but we hunt it every open season morning and still do well on most of them because it's in a place birds pass most days.
