What species do you take the most?

Up here in the U.P. last year I took more G/W teal than anything then Mallards after that. I hope it'll get colder sooner this year so the big ducks will swing through during the season.

Funny thing last year down in southeast Missouri where I hunt, our kills went like this as far as numbers go. Mallards, GWT, Gadwall, Spoonies  , Woodies, Wigeon, Pintails and this was a bad year for us. During the 2010-2011 season our numbers went Gadwall, Spoonies, GWT, Mallars, Woodies, Wigeon. We killed a lot of mallards early on and hardly any late in the year. Usually it's the other way around, that dang warm weather really made it interesting.

For dabblers, probably take wigeon the most often. Mallards and pintail is probably second.

Mostly woodies for me. Never even pulled up on a mallard last year. They never got here.

Love me some greys. We got into them pretty good this year. We use to shoot the heck out of them in January but this year we hammered them for the first few weeks of the season.

We pass on greys a lot just so we can fill our limit with what we consider cool birds. 4 man limit in 14 minutes is our record and was almost all greys. I do love hunting them when I take new people since those kamikazes make me look like I have all my chit together

It used to be majority Gads, last year it was a pretty good mix up of everything.

Mostly mallards here. Quite a few widgeon too. Thats really a majority of what we take. The occasional wood duck and gwt. Witnessed my buddy take the first goldeneye both of us had seen.

We get enough GE. I like how they whistle but that's about it. I've never been too awfully impressed by them. I rate them one step ahead of buffleheads.

All of that being said. I've never bagged a BGE. I've seen them flying but never got a shot at one.

Most recent years it's been bills and GEs. I'm at work, when I get home I'll look in my logbook and see what the exact mix was this past season.
Honestly, I'd rather they all be divers..........anyone can shoot park ducks. :duck:

Kinda embarrassed to post this but, here is the birds in order of most to least.
1. Mallards
2.Widgeon
3.Common GE
4.Blue bills (didn't seperate lesser and greater this season)
5.Bufflehead
5.Greenwing Teal
7.Gadwall
8.Pintail
9.Common Merganser
10.Surf Scoter
11.Canvasback
11.Hooded Merganser
13.Cinnamon Teal
13.Ring neck
13.Shoveler
13.Barrow's GE

I do shoot a fair amount of puddlers the first month to month and a half but, I usually stack diver numbers after that. It's been awhile since I had a park duck at the top of my numbers for the season.

What I don't understand is why the diver duck section is below the dabbler and goose sections.

I suggest they raise it directly under the blind section

I dont see what y'all think is so hard about shooting divers. Put out a group of blocks in a line and shoot them when they fly in. Easy!??!

We shoot scaup when the puddlers get slow

It's because they have to go out in the big scary water in their little tiny boats.
