head over to the DU web site and take a look at this years duck numbers. They estimate the population at 34.02 million birds, down from last year for sure but when you look at 2016's numbers there were 48.3 million birds. That is a precipitous drop that does not bode well for the future of water fowling. I seem to remember at one PGC waterfowl symposium they stated a federal cutoff number for the ducks where duck hunting was closed based on population count but I don't remember exactly what that number was. Seems like we are moving in that direction. So this validates all the guys who say "where's the ducks" .......they're gone..... 14 million of em....
