That was taken at LZ Schueller where we would "stand down" during the day and get some sleep. Yup....we slept in there.

Yes it is AK.....gotta eat sometime. Here's another of the SRAP (ambush) platoon I took at Camp Radcliffe in An Khe. "Holloway's Raiders".
The platoon sgt Holloway (seated on sandbags with soft drink in hand) was noted for his jungle fighting experience gained in the Ia Drang valley in 65. They were working in areas where I had already run recon before and I went with them for a while as their scout/FO.

Damn straight. By the time I took this picture, every one of them had blood on their hands. Pretty sure 100% of the platoon had purple hearts.

I had been "in Country" for quite a while and realized that I had no pictures. Asked around and found out we could buy the kodak instamatic cameras whenever we got to a PX. Started buying them and tried to capture what I could. They also developed the photos for us there. The pictures of piles of dead bodies never got returned to us.

This was one of our "home away from homes" in the Central Highlands. LZ Action was an artillery battery guarded by an infantry company.....it sat at the entrance to Mang Yang pass which was knicknamed "ambush alley". This place took mortar fire almost every night and had NVA sappers with bangalore torpedoes tangled up in the wire quite often. We would return in the mornings after all night ambushes outside the wire to sleep here during the day.
