Don't know what you want it for, but if it was me, I'd use coffee cans, eye bolts, and concrete. You could probably make 30 for the price of 1 lead pyramid sinker that heavy.

The cheapest place I've found for lead is halessinkersupply.com but I don't know if they have what you're looking for.

You could do the same thing with lead. If you pour your own lead, it would be a fairly cheap anchor.

I think Dan uses something like that. Maybe he will show up.

You're going to have to make your own if you want pyramids that heavy.

I have a pyramid mold that I made for pouring drift boat anchors, its 3 sided pyramid and makes a 35lb anchor.
If you make a mold you could pour them pretty cheap

We had a pyramid mold made up that makes a 10# anchor when poured full.

I'm unaware of any commercially made mold, probably have to make your own.

Out of curiosity, why do you guys use pyramid shaped anchors that big? Why not just get a regular anchor, or use a brake rotor or something?

Wind, current, sandy bottom would be my guess.

No way it would hold better than a standard fluke anchor, or whatever the hell they're called.

Just guessing. Maybe rock bottom and the upside down pyramid will keep from getting tangled in the rocks, maybe they're retarded or maybe they like triangles.

Standard 10 #navy anchor =$20-25

I've got less than $10 of steel in the mold and we can buy scrap lead for less than $1/lb.

We've made no less than 40 pyramids - for ~ $400. We'd have $800-1000 using fancy store bought anchors.

I can't get lead anywhere around here. The People's Republic has it on lock down for mandatory recycling. Dickheads. I forget that other places in the world can get lead cheaply.

In addition, the lead pyramids stack better a take up way less room than either store bought anchors or rotors do in the boat.

I use those railroad plates. They're heavy and free.

I can get you some for 30 - 40 cents per pound, but the shipping will be a bitch.

You can use the USPS flat rate box. Think you can put up to 70lbs in it for $7

But if you do, they are authorized to substitute golf balls for your contents, at their discretion.

I've sent lead through the flat rate box, takes damn near a whole roll of that packing tape with the threads in it to hold that bastard together

Its probably 3/16" steel, don't remember off the top of my head. I'll take a pic for you tomorrow when I go to work.

I was young maybe 19 or 20 and me and buddy were like hell yeah free scrap metal. So we pick a bunch up and were up at the scrap yard throwing railroad steel off my truck and this guy comes up yelling and saying he was gona call the cops and that we needed to pick it up while we were waiting for the cops to get there, so my buddy is like naw man that's your railroad steel and we jumped in the truck and hauled ass, the crazy asshole gets in his truck and tries to chase us down. Guess he couldn't see my tag with the tailgate down. We finally shook him off going thru traffic in town and nothing ever came of it. He was probly bluffing abt the cops but we still never went back to that place.
