Grand Finale

Well today was the final, final and the season was so bad that we could only gather up six guys to hunt the party blind, a 10 man blind that we built a few years ago. Our expectations were so low that we didn't ever take the Webber grill, just some wally world wings and lots of beer and "ice".

We shot all of our red heads, a widgeon and a blue bill and because we had very few birds other than red heads, we pulled out early and headed to Austin and Shannon's house for the end of the season party. Being "older" I left after an hour and a half but it was indeed going strong when we left.

Thanks, it was a fun finish to a very poor season.

Where the hell do you park the boat?

Here, we just anchor them a few hundred yards away or the closest shoreline if the blind doesn't have a boat-hide built on it.

That's a hell of a walk for the poor bastard who has to park it.

There is a little island about 300 yards away. The bottom is hard sand under about 2 inches of mud/muck and grass. Pretty easy walking in stocking foot waders and wading shoes. We shot 5 birds while Shannon was walking back and he shot one on the trip from the boat.

How does the dog get to the blind? In that air boat?

Yes, of course in the airboat. Surely you don't think she walks or swims. Look at the first picture in the thread, Champ the wonder dog rides on the boat drivers platform. My dog usually rides in the front seat.
