Packing up for the dove opener tomorrow. Heading 2 hours west hoping to find some birds, all birds close to home have disappeared. Will be scouting this evening, looking for a good shoot in the morning.

Morning started off slow, severe storms and wind overnight had the birds screwed up. Moved and found a field with birds, which I also have permission on. Ended with a 5 man limit of 75 dove, 17th consecutive year with a limit on the opener.
The worries of lack of work during the off-season went away fast, as Taz had a great day of marking and retrieving. Handling needs to be tidied up, but I expected that. The heavy rains did make sone nice hiding and cooling off spots. Morning was 61° with a slight breeze, way better than the 100 before storms arrived yesterday.

Glad to see the hunt came together and what a mess of birds

Dang, dove sitting might be alright at 60-some degrees. Never tried that.

It'[s nice Rick, doesn't happen often. 60 typically means birds are gone south. Did get to 82 before we were done.

Taz was loving life, a rare day for a good dove hunt when it's cool and wet. Last 3 years have reached over 100 on the opener.
