9/17/14 Prairie chicken

Back at it this morning chasing chickens. Hunt was more of what I expected, first bird encounter was near 4 miles in, point in top pic. Birds were 50 yards in front of Taz and 40 yards in front of me, only got one shot off but put a bird down. Headed to the west where birds were headed, bout 2 miles later Taz locks up on a hillside with thicker grass, bird flushes to my right giving a 30 yard crosser, 2nd bird down. Unloaded the gun and strapped it into my vest and headed out on the 2.5 mile walk back to the car.

First chicken with the 16, only birds left is a goose and a turkey.

Nice hunt, maybe myself and the fam will have similiar luck next Sunday if we go after sage hens

Sage hens are on my bucket list, too bad your season is only in Sept. Good luck.
