What would be some good calls for someone just starting out hunting Canada geese?

Riverbottom calls out of chandlerville ill are a easy to blow call and wont break the bank mr jallas is a very nice person and can fit you what you need .they also do laser engraving ,and make very good duck calls

The Primos Honytonk is very underrated...the poly zinks and super mags are also very good options...just sayin'

Before you know it like anything else in the hunting hobby you will have

An Olt A50 is a great one to start and finish on.

lets see a pic of what you use...on your lanyard... oh...lemme guess...you have zero idea how to use one keep spinning that prop on your little hat...you might eventually get somewhere

What would be some good calls for someone just starting out hunting Canada geese?

Any decent call, just practice practice practice. And really focus on reading the geese. You are a used car salesmen trying to tell them what they want to hear. Often they will let you know what they are thinking. A good sounding cluck and then reading the birds, that'll take you a long ways.

I'm not going to win any calling contests but I do better than average on getting birds. A few clucks so the birds look your way. Sometimes that's all you need. A single, just echo back whatever he's doing. That's often the best approach. Excited clucking can often get young birds excited and wanting to join the party. If they are coming to the call, don't stop until you are ready to shoot. I let a lot of birds get away because I was more worried about messing up so I'd stop too soon. Birds coming my way, I usually call lightly even if I think I don't need it so if they start drifting, I'm not starting to call but just picking up the pace or whatever I think to redirect and ease back down but not off if they straighten out or ratchet up if they are wanting to land short. Also Canadas have a strong pair bond and the young are really dumb for awhile. You shoot a goose out of a flock. If it's a mate or the parents. Reload and get right back on the call. Really good chance on bringing them back around. All nine geese in that picture where from the same flock. We took 6 in the first volley. Called the other 3 back and finished the job.

I commute to work, so I'd practice at the red lights. A lot just learning to control the call. Getting it to break when I wanted. Slow. Fast. Not anything that would attract a goose, just learning to play the instrument.

Excuse me....I was asking mikey about his vast knowledge of goose calling...nobody else....but I'm sure I've got a couple now and then as well....I rarely take pics....not driven like that
