worth using or not? Seems they are basically all the same. Pro's? cons? Thinking of adding a dozen or so to boost movement

If you’re talking Canada geese, then I say it’s not worth it. Especially if you’re hunting big geese. I think motion is overrated and has been used to decoy hunters into buying all these different motion systems. Look at how many geese have been and Continue to be killed over big foot decoys. Not a whole lot of motion there. Simple flag will do the trick. (I hardly flag anymore) The bigger birds don’t move around much on the ground.

Now if you’re hunting strictly lessers there’s a bit more movement there, but with that being said, my personal opinion is it’s not needed.

each to their own, I'd rather have movement in my dekes than my blind. i don't use flags, as I've found them useless ( but that's just me). I feel movement in the spread is more important than flags. Better luck with staked wobblers than without, by far. Full bodies are to much a pain in the ass to be bothered with! So many options to go to and so many opinions about each. Just looking for opinions on better made socks is all. Whiterock seems to have the market cornered

Might should have made that your original question. (On which I'm with PC: movement you can't control can bite you in the ass. Have no clue what the best socks are these days.) North Winds long were the best available socks, and mine went to the dump in The Great Decoy Shed Purge of '04.

Can't really speak to the effectiveness, but sure seems brands are going all-in on motion these days, now more than ever.

Good point, though, in that when I've seen a big wad of Canada's on the ground, they really are pretty still and hardly of the erratic motion that new staking systems would try to portray.

My answer was based on this. I guess if you just wanted to know about brands, then you should’ve left that part out. As far as brands, they all look like shit to me compared to plastic decoy paint jobs. The coloration is never the same and they fade.

And like I said, I hardly ever flag anymore. At the most I’ve used the flag twice this season in two months of hunting. most guys flag too much. Just need to know when it is needed.

I'm with Porkchop on this one. For Canada's I'd say forget it. I went once with a spread of all Deadly Decoys Canadas. They danced in the wind really nicely. So nice that every Canada that headed my way saw all the motion and flared off at 50 yards or better. Now I use a couple of them in my spread strategically placed around to add a little bit of movement. Other than that forget it.

just thinking of adding a dozen sock's to the 2-3 dozen shells i use currently. I don't see it as doing harm....?? a few here and there, a couple in with walkers and such. But as said, seems they are all made the same, no difference on actual quality

ok...lets leave flags out of it, since it was never in the equation to start with! As far as coloration goes, Canada's come into basic black and white , so that seems like a small detail. I've seen some real garbage paint on plastic as well. G & H for example. I know they fade, which is why I asked about quality...! just looking to add a bit of movement and bulk the numbers by a few dozen, without spending alot and adding to the time ad space needed to get the job done
