Hey guys shot some snows last week and always wanted to mount a nice adult snow. Then i shot this cool looking bird. First thought was it a juvi snow? But i was told might be a juvi blue? If so very rare here in NJ and i am thinking of getting him mounted instead. What do you guys think? thanks

That thing is ugly. I'd mount a nice snow and eat that one.

Cool looking bird but if it is a juvy it will most likely not have the greatest feathers and won't make a good mount. If you do want to have it mounted take it to a taxidermist and have him look it over to see what kind of shape it's in before committing to mounting it.

I agree. Not all hybrids or oddball birds are not nice to look at

This guy speaks the truth. Pin feathers are a mounts worst nightmare.

Don't be upset if your taxi can't make chicken salad out of chicken shit.

I think it looks cool. I see thousands of snows every year and have never seen a Juvi that looked like that. But, I dont think it is a juvi snow.

The bill on your goose isn't a snow.
These are juvee snow geese:

Not a speck either. It must be crossed with a Canada goose. They're the ones with black feet and bills.
I'm gunna GUESS it's a Canada X Snow

Specks and snows don't mix much but I have seen lone snow geese in a huge flock of Canadas many times.
Not in Arkansas but in central-Illinois. They're easy to spot. :D

I'm thinking the OP's bird is just an odd snow/blue phase combination and a juvenile due to its dark bill color.

And I'm knowing Aunt Betty's "juvee snow geese" are adult blues.

When I moved to blue and snow country in '83, many still held the notion that blues were just young snows. So our friend may have suffered a bad source, rather than enjoyed good drugs.

Though the preponderance of evidence...
