What loads to use for geese ?

For geese do you need large shot with 1 1/2+ ounces of lead ? Can you use regular duck loads like Kent Fast steel is one I keep hearing with BB or bigger ? What are some good 2 3/4 or 3 " loads for geese up to 30 yards ?

Using lead is a very bad idea.

Have you ever hunted waterfowl before?

#2 or BB steel will kill them fine. Using lead for waterfowl is illegal.

Used to use #4 buck back in the day. Now BB, BBB, T's, or even F.

1 1/8 or 1 1/4 oz of BB is all you need. You really should try and find someone it your area that will mentor you. It will do wonders for you. Are you getting into waterfowl hunting with a family member?

Check out the greenhorn forum.

It's a great place to get information and ask questions as a new duck hunter.

I use 3" #2's, BB or BBB steel shot. Usually 1 1/4 oz. If I had to pick one shot size for geese that are decoying, I believe I would choose BB's

Good luck, shoot them in the face!
