I had some sillos made out of that stuff. They used about an 1/8" galvanized wire for stakes.

They hold up good? Don't bend or break to easily? It's either this or plywood. Don't have the money for the "good" kind.

Got ya. I'm planning in making a ton of them and just hoping the numbers game will work for me. I can make 90 of em for about $150. Planning on mixing in my dozen floaters and my buddy's half dozen shells for this late season.

Lots of guys around here run them, with good results. I've used them quite a bit, usually made out of the same stuff, but from signs that I assumed were old and were free for the taking. I like them, but they don't last real long. They may last longer if you baby them, but since I only had a couple cans of Krylon into them, I was never very careful. I use a piece of wire I use for my snares, bent into a "flat" Z, and use the flat part as a step. Put a couple twists of electrical tape around the top, to keep it from sliding deeper into the plastic. I think the wire I use is 10 gauge or so- the silos will actually "wobble" a little in a breeze, which was an unexpected bonus. I originally used it because I'm cheap, and I had it. The bad is that if it's really windy, they'll just lay down flat, so I can't use them.

And only make feeders. Sentries out of that plastic will last about 1 hunt before they're neck is floppy as a $6 drunk.

Ok. Thanks Assa. I'm trying to decide between cheap plywood and this plastic. I'm kinda worried about the plywood delaminating on me, but I feel like they will last longer. Price isn't much different between the 2 and weight isn't really an issue.

Maybe I'll just use plywood. Don't have to order it online and probably will last a little longer.

Plastic is easier to get a wire on for a stand than plywood. And the plywood a heavier than you think- I had 4 plywood silos for turkey hunting, and I almost guarantee they were as heavy as a dozen plastic geese.

I think I'm going to try and make a couple out of some scrap plywood I have laying around and see how They work. If I don't like it then I'll use the plastic.

Sorry I meant $110 bucks for some Damn plastic. Why not use 1/4" plywood?

Nuff, I don't know how broke you are. But I would really look at the Real Geese Pro Series 2's. If you shop around you can find them for $170 a doz. Buy a dozen every month and you will have 8-10 dozen by next season. I run 10 dozen and have no regrets with switching from fullbodies.

I have to order it online too, so I can't really see what it looks like before I buy it. I think the cheap pine plywood is like $13/sheet, so it won't be a whole lot more expensive. And I really don't need 10 sheets either.

I know that's the better way to go, but I really can't spend that kind of money. I barely made my tuition payment this semester, so I'm cutting back on a ton until I get next years tuition sitting in an account. Maybe once the next season comes around I'll be able to get a couple dozen.
Good to hear they work good for you. Full bodies are definitely out of budget.

Check the cost of the luan plywood at home depot, it should be less than $13 per sheet. I think its 3/8".
