I dont believe a speck and a honker can cross, genes are to different I think.

I could be wrong though.

Whatever it is, it wasn't around all week until today, the first of our two no-shoot days. Fucker makes a racket and sounds half honker, half barn-yard.

There are two of them out there like that today. Don't know for sure if either is the same as last week's. Odds are they're gone tomorrow.

I saw it out there this morning, grabbed the 12ga out of the closet, loaded it with 3" #2's and snuck down as close as I could, about 40 yards or so, but it didn't feel right. I was going to regret shooting that goose. I'm not sure why. Maybe I just like seeing it around. I unloaded the gun and walked away.

Later on the second one was around, too. They travel in different little packs, but hang together when they're both here.

Might as well start feeding your pets. Have you picked names yet?

Once heard a cattleman friend tell some of his grandchildren, "It's best not to name the cows." But if he was hungry for a goose, Banknote would probably find it easier to pop a plain Canada. Know it tickled me to have folks happy to give it a pass when the only old squaw I've seen in Louisiana flew into our decoys and puttered around showing his handsome self off for a while. Sometimes more rewarding to can and don't than do just because you can.

This!

I've only ever seen specklebelly geese one time. Five of them hung out in the small grass field beside my house for about a week. I took the gun out there and was going to shoot them but instead took pictures.

Did they hold still as well as these ones?
