I've hunted that area in the spring quite a few years.
That's a good date. It's definitely too early to worry.
I checked the weather. If I were going, I'd like to see a little more warm weather between now and then, but with the refuge only 98% frozen. I think it will open up pretty quick and the birds move up pretty fast that time of year. I'd like a few days later, but I think you will be good and may hit it spot on and catch the new birds arriving in force. Good luck and let us know how you do.
If you are not staying too far from or drive by the Squaw Creek Refuge, it is worth the trip to see the birds. It is freaking amazing to see literally hundreds of thousands of snow geese.
