58° and falling
Overcast, off and on rain, winds wsw @20mph
LST 6:54 AM

Next few days could be red-letter days - the birds are here in a big way and we are going through a change in the weather. It's been hot, 70°+ for the past several days, and temps have been falling throughout the day.

Set up this morning with a friend, expecting some birds but nothing fantastic.
We were home with 8 mallards before the kids left for school at 7:40, at work by 8:30.
Saw 5-600 mallards and only shot into small groups. Was a good hunt for sure.

Managed to score permission on a private spot that had somewhere between 500-700 ducks and 300 geese this afternoon - we shall see how the weekend goes.

Even better.
1100 acre fenced deer ranch, with a neat little river running through it 2 miles from the house...and they don't hunt ducks.
Was chatting with the guy who owns it and he told me about all the birds that come pouring in every morning..."you wanna get after 'em?? Go for it. Give me a call in the morning and I'll take you back there and show you where they hang out."

Ok

"Well, I guess I can come by and shoot them from time to time. If it will help you out."

I'll probably get there and find one of their corn feeders over the water...that's how my luck runs.
