Preseason

Jarren, I spoke to the landowner, who is supposed to be in charge of seeing that his farmer has things ready, about the importance of having big strips, instead of the tiny little circles that farmer is famous for, just yesterday - but I ain't promising anybody's going to do anything. Don't want to be dick or see you guys or anyone else get screwed over, but really, really want to be shed of being in the middle of the camp's sublet messes. (Which is to say I'll still do what I can, but there's a lot I can't. Know you saw an example of that last year.)

Hopefully it'll get better by November 5th. Decent front this weekend. As dry as it is up here they are gonna fly right by us until the pumps start running in November.

Just saw my first flight of geese for the fall...way too high and far to determine species.

Pretty much how every rice field in northeast Louisiana will look this year.

Opening day of deer season up here. Biggest day of hunting season in this part of the state. Wish it was a little cooler than 55, but could be worse. Time to sit back, drink coffee, and enjoy this comfortable office chair.

The holes are not completely closed up with brush right now for hunting. We do not use doors but we put grass all around us to close up the holes. The blind sits real low, and we really don't have problems with birds flaring. Especially on clear days.

Weather forecast has improved from a few days ago. They were calling for light and variable wind. NE 5-10 mph is much more to my liking. Plus temps in the 40's.

Got some supplies today for the blind.

Really enjoy cooking up some deer sausage around 8-8:30 and get ready for the mid to late morning flights.
