Know the feeling.....have been on a hunt when we had a banded speck taken.....but I had no claim to it, didn't even fire on it

Got my first and only band in Nov 2004, green head in my home town marsh off Lake Pontchartrain

I have been hunting about 20 years. I've killed a banded wood duck and a banded blue wing but I've been on several hunts where someone killed 1, including my brother killing a banded Fulvous.

Even on non-fog days yall have seemed to kill a few snows/ross/blues......anything you can point to that's working for you? Seems like most rarely kill more than the occasional light goose without targeting them

keep after 'em!

2016-17 log book

Postby Ericdc » Sun Jan 15, 2017 10:00 pm

Glad to know I'm not the only one who does #9 too, but with specks not snows. I know it bothers guys I hunt with when I'm there and when I'm not they shoot higher birds. But yesterday we killed 4 out of 4 in a group and that wouldn't have happened if we had shot them when they were just "shootable".

I'm still getting grim reports from some in Thornwell, but the camp's crews have been hammering the specks and blues below Gueydan. Our goose guides are going to hate to see the fog go as much as I'm looking forward to change of some sort, any sort.

Knock wood, but so far, still so good on the goose front. Heard one of the snows this morning was shot so close they took its head off. Just sucks for ducks.

Know that feeling well. The very few we have shot have come so sweet it's only fueled the fire, instead of helped quelling it.

But I'm still not ready to give up the Mudhole.
