I might know a guy that will have a spot or two open in a blind after duck closes. Have to bring my cousin Johnny though as he seems to be the good luck charm

HA! I'd have to start pizzing my wife off with the sound of speckle belly in the house. I don't know why that bothers people, I love that sound.

While on this thing, I play McCaulay Library sound files like other folks play background music. Marsh leaves the room if it's speck files, yet doesn't seem to mind my speck calling in the field. Apparently, I'm doing it wrong.

Would guess you've some advantage there with having recorded so much of your calling. Know it's a by-guess-and-by-golly affair when I tune. Usually find what I think super in need of change afield leading to trial and error while hunting until the birds give something the nod - at least for that time and place.

All I do with my redbone is run some pretty warm water through it to remove residue build up and let it hang pulled apart to dry.

OH THAT IS Nathan with the file---JOHN A CHIASSON does not go there with a file---I can screw up a beautiful sounding call in a heartbeat with a few file strokes

John limits himself to EXTREMLY fine grit sandpaper for any toneboard work LOL!!!

If one inadvertently makes a "hole" or "depression" on the face of a brass toneboard,by assymetric pressure to the file,it can really screw things up BAD

I must stick to more "fool proof" means that take little to nothing of the face of the board

It was the video with you tapping the brass tone board into place with a file. Reed stop

Yeah, I listened to it again and the voice wasn't right. Sure sounded like John, last night.

and yes I have INSANELY DONE THIS IN BETWEEN ROUNDS IN A CONTEST BEFORE BECAUSE I DID NOT LIKE WHAT I HAVE HEARD FROM MYSELF BASED ON THE ACOUSTICS AND REVERB ON STAGE

A fellow who used to guide for us dropped his speck call and had to reassemble it without trial prior to going on stage, and had his best (a third?) finish ever with it. Probably should have gone to the casino that day, instead.

Long ago cut up a stray drumstick for wooden gut punches, not that I ever intentionally try to seat mine so tight one's needed. So your type gut setting carpentry is foreign to me. Thanks for the enlightenment.

I'm a wuss and do that type taping with the call barrel. Always seem to hurt myself when a hammer's in hand.

Guess this explains what I've been seeing too. We have open floods both sides of us, can't get a goose to give us even a second look despite a tremendous amount of workable-height traffic.

Do have a smaller cut adjacent to us that's just some kind of winter green grass that was dry and now slight sheet water that I'm sure we could get some looks in but then we'd have to give up the ducks.
