Been trying to figure out what that snow goose that I shot on Xmas eve was.
I think it was a juvee WW.

Had striped feathers sort of. Black and white. Beautiful bird. I picked it out and waited for two big lines of geese to go by and then on the third wave I shot that one...had been watching it a while.
I really didn't care about snow geese I just wanted to have that one in my hand. The pictures are on the pc that's resting in peace in the garage. It got so slow that I retired it. Has a real nice slide show of Bayou Bottoms in there somewhere too.

Did you see the video, John?

Based on your statement above that the snows wintering in TX and blues wintering in LA, makes me think that maybe that's not true. Are they not related?

Am responding as I read, and someone else may have already, but they are said to be color phases of the same species, like yellow and black Labs. How they came to be separated for so long I could not say.

Similarly, blues are considered a real trophy on the West Coast.

Descendants of the white dinosaur fish and the blue dinosaur fish that turned into birds?
If you start comparing bird skeletons to dinosaurs...

Insert the Cliff Claven meme here. ______

It's just a hop skip n a jump until July 4. Order your fireworks and booze early. Tannerite and propane available. ;)

Have said it before but it needs to be a constant reminder to everyone.
Once the fourth comes and goes it's alluva sudden Halloweeen.
The space-time continuum seems to accelerate after Independence Day.

Just sayin'.

It's only a lil over a hundred days until teal season.
Should we wager on when the first "where's a good place to hunt" e-scouting thread posted by a new member happens?

I got a buck on August 27th.

Enjoy. Sweet Chereaux and much of the clan are Florida beach bound in a few weeks, about the time I'm headed for "the islands".

Look at the monthly surveys on these Illinois refuges. I heard tell of record numbers of gadwall late in the season but have yet to find it. I just started digging.

Must be the way south of here places. I'm sort of mid-state. Champaign.
If we get any grey ducks here it's early in the season when you don't need a heater and all that cold weather gear.
Might even be warm enough at Thanksgiving one year and a freaking blizzard the next tho.

This season is going to be epic.
Make room in your freezers good.

Sweet Chereaux says she's seen a photo of dry marsh near Joseph's Harbor. Have no idea whether that's good or bad, but welcome home.

? Send our water to Louisiana? It ends up there anyway.

Payment for shooting 'their' ducks?
