He is definitely in regrowth mode. Keep an eye on ATs new pup, could be a sleeper.

This makes 14 off topic posts. I think if we have one more Nuff is going to have a stroke that we didn't comment about his stinky carp, and Olly is going have to punish us...

I just had to read the title above your post. I honestly thought I was in another thread.

In a feeble attempt to get back on topic, can I use my hunting bow for bowfishing, or is that a no go? I'd like to try it, but the only thing I can really bowfish here are skates, and I'm not dropping cash for a special rig just for that crap.

Better bring a winch to pull the arrows out of the mud andyour rest wont work.

I'm confused- why won't the rest work? (I'll admit I didn't think about the weight, though)

And could I get some sort of oversized judo point with barbs, to maybe slow it down?

What rest do you have? Could work but rest made for bow fishing work way better. We usually fish pretty shallow water ad even a 40lb bow can bury an arrow pretty good.

Fiberglass arrows do a number on rests. That's why most Bowfishing rests have rollers on them so there is no friction. Anything over 50#s will piss you off every shot because it will take 10 min to get it out. I know your cheap, but if you look around at garage sales, (unless those piss you off for some reason) I got my bowfishing bow for $1...I put a little over $100 of stuff on it, but you can make a homemade spool out of scrap wood and a bolt that fits in your stabilizer hole and save a bunch of money.

What type of now should I be looking for? (And my rest is a drop away, no contact rest, for the record)

I use a bear whitetail hunter. But just about any will work. You want one with poundage between 30 and 50 lbs and a recurve is best but not mandatory. The drop away might work but with the heavy arrows it most likely will throw it off.
