Coho and Steelhead can be difficult to tell apart. Best way is to look at the tail, Steelhead have spots and no fork.

The steelhead we get also have big dumb looking doll's eyes. The salmon all have sleek predator looking eyes. Salmon eyes are usually crossed when we bring them into the boat.

They are nibbling on soft plastics already too. Caught a few more on minnows under the float but gosh nabbit if they didn't mind a little lime green plastic too.
