east coast stripers

I went fishing today on the Miramichi river today with my dad and brother.
Started off with a few small salmon and a bass

The we caught a few small trout, until we figured out where the stripers were hanging out

Then we got into them real good and we slowed down taking pictures. There was a fair amount of chaos in the boat. It was not uncomon to have two and three fish hooked at the same time

in all we probably caught about a hundred stripers. No real big ones, but still good fun

Yeah the salmon weren't biting very good, only two small ones. We saw quite a few big ones jumping though.

Nice work and great pictures. That's a strange slot limit.

Thanks. And yeah, the slot is weird. We checked all the ones that were close and only six or seven would have been keepers.

Still better then not being able to keep any.

Oh yeah! Having DNR check us today with a bass in the boat felt funny.

Got a few more yesterday evening, about 40 fish between 5 of us. We usually troll until we find a school and then cast until the schooll moves, but the wind was blowing us off the fish too fast, couldn't stay on them. DNR also checked us for half an hour while the bass were pushing a huge school of smelt to the surface. Fish splashing everywhere

The principal of the local elementary school started a fishing club. They had 14 kids, 7-8 years old, hauling in stripers from shore. Seven kids caught keepers to take home with them.
