Cool as heck, man.

Someday I'm going to ice fish and wail on ducks at the same time, just need the right winter.

That's awesome RonE! Wish I could do that where I hunt.

Is that a permanent blind on open water? Just wondering as that is how we hunt here but you don't see them in many areas.

Lots of permanent blinds on our coast as well.

This is the blind when we were building it.

Nice haul Ron.
I've done a few cast n' blasts in Wy and ended up with a few really nice cutthroat trout for the effort.

Here you go Ron, a couple cast and blast pics from WY.
We don't keep the fish, we C&R them so we didn't lay them out with our birds. You can see we're in the blind though.
This first pic is my son (quackhead here on WFF) and if you look below him you'll notice the snow. It is a December hunt in WY.

Here's one of me earlier in the season, before the snow was falling. So, must have been Octoberish.

I'm more of a fillet and release person myself. Nice fish but fishing with snow on the ground is not something that looks exciting to me. I could probably get behind ice fishing in one of those shacks with a heater where you sit and drink all day.

Lots of permanent blinds on our coast as well.

How far offshore do they go? Here there are blinds 3 or 4 miles out in a few places. These are on the inside, in Pamlico Sound, on the shoals.

Ours are inside the barrier islands, either in the bays or in the back lakes and marshes. The bay closest to the house, Aransas Bay, is about 5 miles from the mainland to the barrier Island and probably averages 9 feet deep except where the ICW goes through then usually 15' deep. Google map Aransas Bay and look at the back lakes on the barrier island and the marshes. The nice thing about hunting here is that if you scout around and find some ducks working or resting in the afternoon, you can hunt them the next morning without a care as to who's land they are on. We often take a load of brush and set up a brush bling on a shore line to hunt from.
